By combining Getnet’s payment infrastructure with Zig’s event-focused software, the two companies have introduced a more connected and efficient payment ecosystem across the stadium’s hospitality areas.
Bringing smarter payments to high-demand environments
This marks the first joint project between Getnet and Zig in Spain, building on an existing partnership already operating successfully in Portugal, including at Estádio da Luz, home of S.L. Benfica.
The deployment at UD Almería focuses specifically on food and beverage outlets, where transaction speed and operational accuracy are critical during peak moments.
At the centre of the rollout are Getnet’s Get Smart terminals, fully integrated with Zig’s digital sales platform. Rather than manually entering transaction amounts, staff can now manage orders directly through a digital catalogue system. The impact is immediate:
- Prices are transferred automatically to the payment terminal.
- Human error during checkout is significantly reduced.
- Transactions are completed faster.
- Financial reconciliation and operational oversight are simplified.
For supporters, that means shorter queues and a smoother purchasing experience. For operators, it creates a more agile and reliable workflow.
Technology designed around the fan experience
Modern stadiums are increasingly expected to deliver seamless digital experiences — not only on the pitch, but across every touchpoint of the visitor journey.
Zig’s platform has been designed specifically for large-scale event environments, helping venues improve efficiency, connectivity and audience engagement. Integrated with Getnet’s payment technology, the solution enables fast, secure and frictionless transactions throughout the stadium.
The project also highlights the growing importance of open and flexible payment systems in large venues, where integration capabilities are becoming just as important as transaction speed.
A strategic move into the events sector
For both companies, the collaboration represents more than a single stadium deployment. It reflects a broader strategic focus on sports venues, festivals and high-capacity entertainment spaces, where scalable payment infrastructure can have a direct impact on operational performance and customer satisfaction.
“This project demonstrates how technology integration can make a real difference in high-demand environments. At Getnet, we are committed to open solutions that integrate with best-in-class partners to provide greater agility, control and operational efficiency for our clients.”
Rubén Justel, CEO at Getnet Europe
Zig also highlighted the value of working alongside an international payments partner with extensive experience in complex transaction environments.
As digital transformation continues across the live events industry, collaborations like this are setting a new benchmark for how technology can improve both operational excellence and the overall fan experience.
